Didsbury Exteriors

Didsbury's older housing is genuinely older than most of what we work on further south — a well-preserved core of early-twentieth-century homes with steep pitches, complex rooflines, dormers and original wood trim. That is different work from a suburban re-roof: more flashing detail, more cutting, more care around features that matter to the character of the house. We quote it as what it is rather than by the square.

The newer subdivisions on the edges of town are the more familiar job — builder-grade shingles from the last twenty years reaching the end of their life, with eavestrough and cladding coming due around the same time.

Didsbury sits on the QEII hail corridor, and storms tracking northeast off the foothills reach here regularly. The pattern is the same as everywhere in this corridor: the damage bruises rather than leaks, so it goes unreported until the roof fails years later, often after the claim window has closed. Booking an inspection after a storm crosses is the single most valuable thing a homeowner in this corridor can do.

Mature tree cover in the older parts of town adds an eavestrough dimension. Established elms and poplars drop a debris load that packs a trough densely, and a trough clogged in October freezes into a solid block in November — which is the most common reason eavestrough tears away from fascia in this climate. Under that canopy, micro-mesh gutter guards genuinely pay for themselves.

The Town of Didsbury handles permits inside the boundary and Mountain View County governs the acreages and farms around it, with different rules on structure size and on siting relative to a well head, septic field or right-of-way. Detached garages and shops are common on parcels around town and we handle whichever process applies.

Farm work around Didsbury is a normal part of our schedule. Shops, machine sheds and barns carry big simple roof areas that nobody inspects, and they take the same hail and wind the house does. We do whole-site visits and plan staging around the approach a loaded materials truck can actually use.
